What is TEDx? x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection within a small group. These local events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. What Is TED?
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 31 years ago, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. At TED, the world’s leading thinkers and doers are asked to give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. These events and online talks provide a platform to share ideas that matter in a variety of disciplines – technology, entertainment, science, humanities, business, art, and design. Handpicked beacons of inspiration give short talks, demonstrations and performances, and all volunteer their time and expertise for no money. They do it for the experience, for the TED name, and for the chance to be heard and share their passion. Follow TED on Twitter at, on Facebook, or visit the website.
