Our Mission

Our mission is to bring together the greatest minds of San Diego and create a platform to share their message with our community, and with the world.

TEDxAmericasFinestCity (TEDxAFC) attracts the brightest luminaries and pioneering spirits from throughout San Diego County. Our goal is to activate change in all those who participate in the event and build an active community through this experience.

We will highlight the amazing technological and scientific advances born here, as well as the innovative ideas that affect and inspire our heart, mind, and spirit into action.

Our next event is slated for this August, featuring the most fascinating thinkers, doers, and change-makers from throughout the region to move and inspire our audience.

TEDxAFC

  • A local, independently organized TEDx licensed event.

  • This will be our third TEDxAFC Main Event and fifth overall large scale event including TEDxWomen and TEDxCity2.0.

  • In 2011, 300+ attendees at Scripps Seaside Forum.

  • In 2012, 500+ attendees at La Jolla Playhouse.

  • In 2013, 700+ expected.

  • We have hosted over two dozen events to build our community, including speaker bootcamps, workshops, organizers meetings, live screenings, and salons.

  • In total, we’ve had over 70 featured speakers engaging over 2,500 attendees.

  • TEDxAFC videos have been viewed 70,000 times on youtube and TED.com.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event

 

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxAmericasFinestCity, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxAmericasFinestCity event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 25 years ago, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. The annual TED Conference invites the world’s leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes. Their talks are then made available, free, at TED.com.
